Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (RCAP-AUV)

The RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Autonomous Underwater Vehicle challenge (RCAP-AUV) will provide participating teams with a unique opportunity to learn from each other together with RoboCup teams from around the world in the fields of robotics and AI.

The RCAP Autonomous Underwater Vehicle challenge (RCAP-AUV) will be held at the Underwater Stage of China Movie Metropolis. The state-of-the-art underwater film studio, with a total volume of 1,260 cubic meters (21m x 10m x 6m), is equipped with an independent water injection system, maintaining a constant water level. The water undergoes a circulation and treatment cycle every 3 to 4 hours and is kept at a stable temperature of 32°C. The water quality meets the standards set by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and the national CJ244 “Pool Water Quality Standards.” These advanced facilities will offer a unique and unparalleled competition experience for marine robotics teams from around the globe.

Since the competition will be held in an underwater film studio at China Movie Metropolis, the RCAP-AUV rules will be appropriately adjusted based on the Singapore AUV Challenge (SAUVC) Rules. Teams that have participated in underwater robot competitions, such as SAUVC , RoboSub etc. are welcome to take part in the RCAP Autonomous Underwater Vehicle challenge (RCAP-AUV) at RCAP 2024 Qingdao.

2. Registration Timeline
  • Pre-registration: 5 August – 31 August 22 September 2024
  • Announcement of qualification: 9 25 September 2024
  • Final submission and registration fee payment : 10 – 30 September 2024
  • Late submission and payment (after 1 October 2024)
    • No team registration is allowed.
    • Late registration fee = 1.5 X regular registration fee

5. Registration Process
  • All teams intend to participate in RCAP 2024 are required to complete the pre-registration
  • Qualified teams will be notified on 25 September 2024
  • Qualified teams need to complete the registration fee payment and the final submission

  • Steps for final submission:
    • 1 – Make a copy of the prove of payment
    • 2 – Prepare one team photo
    • 3 – Prepare qualification material not yet submitted during pre-registration
    • 4 – Complete the FINAL-REGISTRATION before 30 September 2024
  • Kindly note:
    • Completing the final submission before 30 Sept will help you avoid the high registration fee.
    • Registration confirmation will be issued to all participating teams once the registration is completed.
8. RCAP Influencer Award

The RCAP Influencer Award will be presented to the teams whose presentation videos receive the highest evaluation in their respective category on the RCAP Academy Official YouTube channel
